An abstract of strolling down the path on an Autumn Day.  This was a reminder of when I used to live in the mountains of Pennsylvania.  These old cow paths were just great for walking down and taking in the fresh air and beautiful gold colors.

This was one of my first experiences Kayaking with my good friend in Maine.  I found it to be a lot of fun and since this Challenge is all about me.  I would like to add Kayaking to my list of things I love to do.

This was a very windy day when we went out sailing with our friends.  Tons of sailboats and this one was just tipping over.  The original can be seen on my FB page for comparison.  I literally thought the boat was going over. 

Anyhow, I love to sail so I am adding "Sailing in Maine" as one of my absolute favorite things to do.

This painting was inspired by a segment I watched on the African Elephant on the National Geographic Channel.

 

Please read Peggy Turbett's touching story "Keeping company with the elephants"

about the elephant orphanage in Kenya run by Daphne Sheldrick.  As founders of Cleveland-based Elefence International, Ms. Turbett's focused on the reason why there are so many orphaned baby elephants in Kenya: IVORY

 

Every year 25,000 elephants in Aftica are slaughtered for their ivory.  At that rate, the elephant will be extinct in the wild in 10 years.

 

Awareness of extinction of any animal should be a wake up call to our society that we are hurting our own planet and in the end it will be the humans that may become extinct.

 

Meet Reese and Foster (2 new Commission Paintings)

These are my newest commission paintings for a couple in Windom, Maine.

 

Reese is their dog and Foster was their cat that passed away 3 years ago and had a very special meaning to this couple. 

 

It has always been a priviledge for me to paint people's animals.  Even though I never meet the dog or cat themselves, I get to know them through their spirit.  The eyes to me will always be the window into their souls and I get to know them personally by the time I have finished their protraits.  Actually a part of me feels sad when I have to let go of the painting because in that short time they become very special to me and have a place in my heart.

Meet Callie and Ladybug - New Commission Paintings from Atlanta

My two newest Commission Paintings from Atlanta.

 

Callie is a Tortie Cat and had many challenging colors and markngs. 

Ladybug is a Maine Coon Cat and had beautiful black fur and one white marking.

 

 

I so enjoyed painting these two sisters from the Atlanta area.
